Just under a day since Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat along with the LG Nexus 5, Motorola has published the list of smartphones which will receive the new update. Smartphones like the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, Droid Mini and the Moto X will receive the update according to Motorola. The Moto X runs a near stock version of Android, so it doesn’t surprise us that the smartphone will be among the first to get the update (depending on the carriers of course). As the rest of the smartphones come under Verizon’s umbrella, it’s up to the carrier to work things out with Motorola. It is said that these devices will skip the Android 4.3 update to make the jump to KitKat.
Motorola sadly failed to give information on the rest of its handsets, but since the company doesn’t have a lot of notable handsets apart from these in 2013, we don’t think it will be that big of an issue. Earlier yesterday HTC’s Jason Mackenzie mentioned that all North American HTC One smartphones will have the Android 4.4 update within the next 90 days, so users will have to wait until the end of January next year. Motorola is yet to give out information on the timeframe of its updates.
