Sony has just unveiled the much rumored Xperia Z1 f which was also known as the Xperia Z1 mini today in Japan. The official name of the smartphone however is a bit longer than we’re accustomed to – Xperia Z1 f SO-02F. Well the smartphone is just what we imagined, as it comes with an almost identical specs sheet as the Xperia Z1. Packing inside the Xperia Z1 f is a 4.3 inch 720p display, a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 chip, the same 20.7MP Sony G Lens camera, a 2.2MP front camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, Android 4.2.2 and a 2,300 mAh battery.
The smartphone will be sold in Black, Pink, White and Lime color variants for an undisclosed amount. The sad news however is that the smartphone will remain an exclusive through Japanese carrier NTT Docomo for the time being, with no word on a global launch just yet. The carrier will begin taking pre orders from today while it might take until December for the smartphone to officially hit local stores in Japan. This is perhaps the best mini variant of a smartphone we’ve seen so far, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and the HTC One Mini not exactly being powerful hardware wise. We dearly hope Sony manages to launch the smartphone in more countries, as a smartphone of this caliber has immense potential in pretty much every market out there.
