Samsung could introduce a new extended warranty scheme for its devices

Samsung currently provides extended warranty for laptops and a few other products in its roster, but according to a new revelation, this could soon extend to just about any consumer product the company makes. This could mean that users will be able to extend the warranty period of their expensive Samsung smartphones from 1 year to 2-3 years. Of course this could cost quite a lot of money like the Apple Care Protection Plan, but it should be worth it considering the benefits it would provide for the users.

This new extended warranty scheme will be reportedly known as Samsung Protection Plus according to a USPTO filing which states that this plan will offer “extended warranties on consumer electronic products and consumer appliances“. There’s no additional details available apart from an image found in the trademark filing, but we’re hoping to learn more in the coming days. In all likelihood, it could take until 2014 to come to fruition, so don’t hold your breath.
