Oregon Scientific Introduces MEEP! X2 Kid-Friendly Tablet For $150

The MEEP! X2 which was spotted last August over at the FCC is now available in the market. Oregon Scientific has just announced the availability of the device which is an upgrade to last year’s MEEP! tablet. The new device is now slim, is shock and water proof, and comes with several features that both kids and parents will love.

Parents will definitely love the new parental control feature that allows them to monitor and access the tablet itself. This can be done remotely using a PC, iPad or any other mobile device with a Wi-Fi or cellular connection data. The web interface used to monitor the device is very simple and allows parents to control how their kids access the Internet, view log files and browsing history, approve friend requests via the Kids Communicator, or add virtual coins to their Meep account.

One interesting feature of this device is that it has access to the company’s own Meep! Store that has more than 800 apps and games, all suitable for kids. The device also has access to Google Play via the parental portal. Every new device comes pre-loaded with apps, e-books, games, and selected content from Cartoon Network, Toon Goggles, Zeptolab, Thumbstar, and Paragon e-books.

Oregon Scientific is also releasing several accessories that are compatible with the MEEP! X2 which should provide kids with an additional source of entertainment. Some of the accessories include a case and keyboard, headphones, and piano.
