Nexus 5 launching in two different battery variants, pricing starts from $299: Rumor

LG Nexus 5

According to a new rumor, the LG Nexus 5 could be launching in two different battery capacities. The rumor also states that the smartphone will be sold in 16 and 32GB variants which is a relief for most fans. What’s odd though is that Google¬†will allegedly launch two battery variants of the smartphone for the 16 and 32GB variants respectively. The reasoning behind this is not known yet. The 16GB variant would apparently come with a 2,300 mAh battery while the 32GB variant will reportedly pack a 3,000 mAh battery. We saw a user manual of the Nexus 5 leaking out a few days ago, which revealed all the hardware specs of the smartphone including a Snapdragon 800 chip, an 8MP OIS camera and the 5 inch 1080p display.

The tipster cited by Phone Arena has further claimed that the smartphone will cost $299 and $399 for the 16 and 32GB variants, which is very reasonable and only $50 more compared to the top end Nexus 4 (16GB).

If this report turns out to be true, then we might not see a lot of takers for the 16GB version of the smartphone as every user would want a phone which lasts longer. It is also likely that the bigger storage variant will possibly come with LTE on board while the 16GB variant might miss out on that, which can to some extent justify launching two different battery variants. The announcement is slated to take place later this month on the 30th, so there’s still some time left before our doubts are clarified.
