According to a rumor which sparked off a couple of days ago, Android 4.4 KitKat could be unveiled on October 14, along with the LG Nexus 5 smartphone. And we now have some details on the changes this new version of Android will bring. According to details accessed by Ausdroid, the newest iteration of Android will bring both cosmetic and internal changes, which have been listed in detail below.
- Firmware availability to older phones
- Fragmentation changes (screen resizing)
- Miracast updates
- New Gallery Visualisation
- New APIs regarding animations
- Change android default blue to other preset palette colours
- New notification widgets
There’s no confirmation on these features or its actual availability yet and rumors like these can go either way. But for the time being, we will mark our calendars to October 14 hoping to know more as the days pass. This goes against early reports which mentioned a late 2013 release for the Nexus 5 smartphone. And considering that Android 4.3 was just launched less than two months ago, we don’t see a newer version making its way this early.
