According to a new rumor, the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch could cost somewhere close to $450. This is a lot to spend on a companion accessory so we’re not really sure if the company will be justified in pricing the gadget that steeply. The info comes from a Korean site which claims the smartwatch will be priced about 500,000 Korean Won ($457).
The announcement is less than an hour away now, but it’s very unlikely that Samsung would actually give out pricing details of the smartwatch during the announcement. But we’re sure Samsung will have some elaborate plan in mind to bundle the accessory with the Galaxy Note 3.
The smartwatch is rumored to pack a 2.5 inch 320×320 resolution display, a 4MP camera capable of HD video recording, 8 and 16GB storage variants, a dual core 1.5 GHz processor, Bluetooth 4.0, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.3 and a paltry 10 hours of battery life. The rumored battery life has caused some serious concern among fans, so we’ll hope to gain more clarity on that during the launch event.
