Back in August we began hearing rumors of a low cost variant of the Galaxy Note 3 being launched targeted towards emerging markets. The rumor has surfaced yet again courtesy of ET News. According to this new report, the smartphone will be launched in November in key developing markets. This could well be a water-resistant variant of the smartphone like the Galaxy S4 Active but with a relatively underexposed hardware. Rumors have pointed at a smaller 5.5 inch LCD panel, an 8MP camera and a possible Snapdragon 600 chipset for this variant of the Galaxy Note 3. For the time being, this variant of the Galaxy Note 3 carries the SM-N9000 model number as its octa core variant.
The delay in launch is understandable as Samsung is prepping the launch of its premium Galaxy Note 3 flagship and the presence of a cheaper alternative would put customers in two minds. This variant of the smartphone is apparently making its way to India for testing purposes as the screenshot above suggests, so a launch could be imminent. Pricing will be crucial of course and Samsung will be wary of that, especially in emerging markets.
