LG Nexus 5 revealed in alleged press image

Nexus 5 Press Image

The LG Nexus 5 has been making its way to the rumor mill almost regularly since the past week. We already have a brief idea of its specifications thanks to FCC filings. But this alleged press image is pretty much the confirmation we needed at this point. It confirms the design that we’ve seen so much of in leaks and sheds more light on its specs as well. According to GFX Bench, the smartphone will sport a display resolution of 1794×1080 which is actually 1920×1080 with the remaining pixels accounting for the onscreen navigation buttons.

It also reveals the Snapdragon 800 chipset on board with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz. Rumors in the past have also hinted at a 13MP camera at the back, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage variants with no provision for a microSD card slot and Android 4.4 KitKat. It is claimed that the smartphone will break cover by the end of October, which is still a long way from now, so we’ll reserve judgment until then. By the looks of it though, it doesn’t seem like Google will be able to retain the $299/$349 price tag from the Nexus 4. But with substantial hardware upgrades, nobody is expecting Google to price it that cheap anyways.
