LG Nexus 4 Sold Out on Google Play After $100 Price Slash

A week ago, Google shockingly decided to drop the price of its LG Nexus 4 by $100 on Google Play.  This move must have been one of the most scrambled for smartphone deals around because as of now, LG Nexus 4 on Google Play Store is out of stock.  If you wanted to snatch up the deal but was waiting longer, you may have lost a golden chance to get one of the best Android smartphones in the market at an amazingly low price.

Nexus 4 Out of Inventory

The 8 GB version of Nexus sold for $299 while the 16 GB version was retailing for $349 but after the price cut, the 8 GB sold for just $199 while the 16 GB was listed as $249.  In case you are wondering, Nexus 4 is the 4.7 inch Android smartphone on Google’s Nexus family of products.  The device boasts of a 4.7 inch 768 x 1280 pixels True HD IPS Plus screen, a 1.5 GHz Krait quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, 2 GB RAM, Choice of 8 and 16 GB variants, Android 4.2 Jelly bean (upgradable to 4.3), an 8 megapixels rear camera and a 2,100 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery.

Just days after Google dropped the price of the 8 GB version of Nexus 4 to $199 and that of the 8 GB version to $249, this option was milked dry and it is possible that there are only the 16 GB variants left in stock.  Google is currently showing the 8 GB version of Nexus 4 as ‘We are out of inventory. Please check back soon’ but there is no guarantee that the phone will be coming back soon.  Perhaps Google deliberately sold out the 8 GB variant of Nexus 4 in preparation of the rumored upcoming Nexus 5 – or it wants to put more focus on making Motorola’s Moto X a bigger success than it has attained so far.

Rumors circulating on the internet point at LG being the manufacturer of the next Nexus – Nexus 5, fashioned on LG G2 design and specs and others hinting at there being a Motorola Nexus device in the near future.  If Google sticks to tradition when it comes to Nexus devices, then we should expect a Nexus 5 sometime between October and November of this year.  As for now, if you want a good deal on an LG Nexus 4, you can still find the 16 GB version for $249, but I have a feeling this will not be for much longer.
