LG-D821 appears at Bluetooth SIG, could be Nexus 5

A device called the LG-D821 has been spotted at Bluetooth SIG. It is believed that such product code is for the upcoming Nexus 5. This follows a leaked FCC certification document yesterday, which shows the product code LG-D820. Since the two codes are different, it is speculated that the two product codes pertain to two variants of the Nexus 5.

Possible LG-D821 specifications

The Bluetooth SIG page reveals little about the Nexus 5. It only indicates that the handset will support Bluetooth as well as LTE. Previous rumors, however, have provided some possible clues about the other specifications of the Nexus 5. These include a 4.96-inch display, a 2300mAh battery, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and the recently-revealed Android 4.4 KitKat. The same device is also expected to be compatible with Sprint, A&T and T-Mobile’s LTE bands, as well as pentaband DC-HSPA+ and quadband GSM/Edge. Other connectivity options include NFC and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac. Wireless Qi charging may also be possible. There are still no hints on the differences that exist between the LG-D821 and the LG-D820 of the Nexus 5.

Android 4.4 KitKat

Along with the growing number of Nexus 5 rumors, speculations about Android 4.4 KitKat have also surfaced. The latest version of the Android operating system is expected to be optimized even for devices that do not have the high-end specifications. Thus, for the Nexus 5, which will be among the first devices to get Android 4.4 KitKat, the user experience will likely be very fluid. Even the battery capacity of the device, which is not deemed to be all that impressive, may last longer because of Android 4.4 KitKat. All things considered, however, the update is not expected to be a major one. Google could likely focus on bringing the update to many Android devices, including mobile devices, smartwatches, and gaming systems, as well as ensuring a smooth user experience.

Only photos of some of the Nexus 5 components have been published online at of the time of this writing. However, several fan-made renders of the device based on the alleged specifications have been made available over the past few days.
