It was almost obvious that Amazon would launch a competitive budget tablet in time for this holiday season to compete with the Google Nexus 7. And we now have an idea as to what to expect from Amazon, as some images of the upcoming 7 inch Kindle Fire HD 2 have leaked out. These images reveal the front, back and the sides of the tablet.
The placement of the speakers and the hardware keys are very interesting. The power button and the volume up/down button appear to be placed on the back, but angled along the edges, so it’s easier to access. The speaker grille has been moved to the top of the tablet to give better sound reproduction.
So it’s evident that Amazon is leaving no stone unturned in making its new range of tablets a success. It is said that the larger 8.9 inch variant will also feature a similar design. Leaks in the past have indicated that the 7 inch Kindle Fire HD 2 will sport a 1080p display, a Snapdragon 800 SoC and Android 4.2.2 with a heavily skinned Amazon UI.
