[IFA 2013] Asus Unveils MeMO Pad 8, MeMO Pad 10

Today at the IFA 2013 in Berlin Asus was able to showcase two of their upcoming products called the MeMO Pad 8 (ME180A) and MeMO Pad 10 (ME102A) both of which are Android tablets. Both models are strikingly similar with the only noticeable difference is that of their display size.

The MeMO Pad 8 isn’t a high-end device judging from its specifications but it is still a good and solid device. The white version has a glossy front and back which is quite a bit of a problem since it’s a fingerprint magnet. The other variants of this model have a matte back part which makes it easier to grip.

Technical Specifications

  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 8-inch IPS panel 1280×800
  • 1.6GHz quad-core chipset
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 8GB  internal storage

  • 5MP 720p rear camera
  • 1.2MP 720p front camera
  • 9 hours of continuous 720p HD video playback
  • 3950mAh battery

The MeMO Pad 10 is basically an underpowered MeMO Pad FHD 10. It has similar specs as that of the MeMO Pad 8 and is great option for consumers who are looking for a tablet with a much larger display.

Technical Specifications

  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 10-inch IPS panel 1280×800
  • 1.6GHz quad-core chipset
  • 1GB of RAM

The MeMO Pad 10 comes with a bigger internal storage and larger battery capacity compared to the 8 inch model. It however only has a 2MP rear camera.

Both Asus tablets have dual speakers at the back which should be able to reproduce a stereo sound. The retail package will include a protective sleeve called the TriCover which also serves as a stand.

Pricing and availability have not been announced yet but judging from its specs and how the company has been releasing budget-friendly models lately I’m sure consumers won’t be disappointed with the official price.
