HTC could be CyanogenMod’s official hardware partner

A new report has sparked off rumors about HTC being CyanogenMod‘s official hardware partner for its future smartphones. As we all know, the Cyanogen team was incorporated a couple of days ago vowing to launch smartphones running on newer versions of CM. The company also mentioned that it was working with a major smartphone manufacturer to achieve this goal, and HTC’s name has just been added to the list.

An enterprising user over at a forum did some digging up and found out that the HTC Developer Center and the newly formed Cyanogen Inc office are located in Seattle. However, this could merely be a coincidence, so we’ll await further details from the Cyanogen team. This new hardware partner is expected to be announced in a few weeks.

This could well be the remedy for HTC’s problems in the mobile industry and seems like something which the upper level management would seriously consider. If true, its success is almost guaranteed as CyanogenMod has a large fanbase and HTC knows how to design a good smartphone.
