Several months ago, a Kickstarter project for the GameStick portable gaming console exceeded all expectations as it garnered seven times the actual funding goal. And now GameStick is finally nearing launch and has arrived at the FCC’s doorsteps. This FCC listing reveals the console itself along with some shots of the internal hardware. The wireless Bluetooth controller however has not been displayed in any of these images. An FCC listing usually indicates an imminent launch, so we’re bound to believe that GameStick will launch as scheduled in October despite several delays over the past few months.
The console will retail for $79 and will ship to early backers first. Other interested buyers will be able to purchase GameStick online provided the stocks last till then. This portable console competes directly with the Ouya gaming console. GameStick is much more portable compared to Ouya and costs less too. It basically transforms any HD television to a gaming machine when plugged in (via HDMI). The console will be bundled along with a Bluetooth gaming controller, which is pretty decent as well.
