Phones4U has set up a nice deal for anyone who wants the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, both recently released by Samsung at IFA 2013. The Galaxy Gear price starts at £299 in the UK and Phones4U will offer it at £199 with the pre-order of the Galaxy Note 3.
This is not the only goodie that comes with the Galaxy Note 3 pre-order, Phones4U is also offering the Galaxy Note 3 flip-cover (£39) and wireless Bluetooth speaker priced at £129. This is a big incentive for any Galaxy Note fan and the buyer can still grab the two other goodies without paying the extra £199 for the Galaxy Gear.
We expect Samsung to start making deals with various distributors and carriers to sell the Galaxy Gear at an undercut with another device. The Galaxy Note 3 is already expected to be a global success, like the original and the Note 2. If Samsung can grab even 10% of all users to put a Galaxy Gear on their wrist, it could give Samsung early dominance in the smartwatch market.
The Galaxy Gear is a little expensive considering it needs to connect to a smartphone to utilise some features. With the Pebble smartwatch priced at $150 cheaper than Samsung’s offering, it is a hard sell. This move to make it £100 cheaper is a good start, but we may see an early price drop if unit sales are a little frosty.
