When Motorola announced several customizable options for the Moto X smartphone last month, it also revealed a premium looking wooden back panel option, which was slated to arrive a couple months later. However, pricing details for this variant weren’t given out during the initial launch. But according to new reports, the wooden back Moto X might actually cost a little more to make, close to $50. This means that the price will be shot up to $200 and $250 for the 16 and 32GB variant respectively.
The wooden Moto X variants will basically be offered in teak, rosewood, bamboo and ebony options. Since it is real wood being used here, the increase in price is understandable. But we’re not sure if users will welcome the increase in price. But if you want a unique looking wooden based Moto X, you will have to shell out a few extra bucks which in this case is 20-25% more than the original asking price. As you may know, the plethora of color variants available on the Moto Maker website are offered free of cost.
Yesterday we reported a delay in shipping of the customized Moto X smartphones due to the bulk of orders. So one can imagine how long it would take for these wooden variants to be shipped to the customers, once it is made available.
