Verizon Motorola XOOM will receive Android 4.2 update soon

Verizon Motorola XOOM

Verizon Wireless has formally announced the Android 4.2 update for the long forgotten Motorola XOOM MZ602 (3G+4G LTE). This has taken most of us by surprise, since Verizon is usually late in rolling out updates. Also, this update seems to have stemmed from Motorola directly and not from Google as the XOOM isn’t supported anymore. The update will bring forth a few changes, mostly with regards to performance and fluidity. The update bears the build number JZO54M.

There seems to be a new keyboard in place along with all the Jelly Bean goodness including Google Now, improved voice search, better notifications etc. The onboard LTE modem is also said to be getting a performance update. The update will officially start rolling out in a week’s time, so make sure you hold on to your XOOM tablet if you still own one.
