The Verizon Motorola Droid Maxx and the Droid Ultra were originally supposed to ship on the 20th of August, with pre orders beginning after its launch last month. However Verizon’s website has now revealed that shipping won’t commence until the 27th of August, indicating a week’s delay. We’re not sure what exactly is causing the delay but we hope Verizon rectifies it soon. It is also possible that Verizon might have exhausted stocks of the smartphones after initial pre orders, so this revised shipping date could be applicable only to current buyers, but there’s no clarification on that.
The Droid Ultra and the Droid Maxx feature more or less the same specs, but the Maxx comes with a much beefier battery which promises to last longer and 32GB of storage, while the Droid Ultra only packs 16GB of storage. Apart from this, the two smartphones pack a 5 inch 720p AMOLED display, a unique eight core CPU dubbed as the Motorola X8, a 10MP camera, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The Droid Ultra packs a 2,130 mAh battery while the Droid Maxx comes with a massive 3,500 mAh battery which adds an extra 30 grams to its weight.
