We’ve seen manufacturers vying for the thinnest smartphone crown on several occasions. And it seems like Umeox will take that a little further with its new smartphone. Dubbed as the Umeox X5, the device is reportedly going to be the thinnest smartphone currently available in the market. The smartphone apparently will only be 5.6mm in thickness, which will put even the thinnest of smartphones to shame. The best part however is that the handset could be unveiled at the IFA event this September. The smartphone will be launched under the Thomson brand, it is believed.
This will mostly remain a Chinese offering, so don’t expect to see it outside Asia. Other than the super slim form factor, the smartphone is rumored to pack a low cost MediaTek chip on board, along with a 4 inch display and “dual” 5MP cameras. Considering that China is currently the largest smartphone market in the world, it goes without saying that the Umeox X5 won’t have any trouble selling.
