One user who has grabbed an early review unit of the Sony Xperia Z1 (previously Honami) has said it is not that impressive and even the camera does not bring a “wow factor” surprisingly.
The Xperia Z1’s main feature is the 20MP camera, with a G Lens, Xenon flash, large optical zoom and f/2.4 aperture, it is set to try its salt against the Nokia Lumia 1020, Galaxy S4 Zoom and other smartphones with powerful cameras.
The tester said he just did see the “wow factor” in the camera, this is questionable, as we cannot see how a 20MP shooter from a company that has been in the camera business for over a decade can screw up this feature. The user did say it could be early firmware holding the camera back.
Display-wise, the Xperia Z1 apparently trails against the Xperia Z Ultra, the mammoth smartphone Sony just released. The user says the colours seem more flushed on the Xperia Z1 and the screen brightness removes a lot of colour and density on images.
Nothing was said about the design or UI, we believe Sony will add Android 4.3 or Android 4.2.2 on the Xperia Z1 with the BRAVIA, the same as they have with the Xperia Z and Z Ultra.
It could all be early firmware Sony will work on until IFA and we hope this device actually has a great camera, considering it is the main selling point.
