The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch has been confirmed for an unveiling before the IFA 2013 event. Reliable source Sam Mobile has confirmed the arrival of the Galaxy Gear along with the Galaxy Note 3. The new smartwatch will be formally unveiled during the Samsung Unpacked Episode 2 event in Berlin on September 4, says Sam Mobile. The smartwatch will be known as the SM-V700. Rumors of the Galaxy Gear have been flooding in since the last couple of months, but a patent filing early this month pretty much confirmed its existence.
The Galaxy Gear should act like any other smartwatch, although we’re not sure if its compatibility will be exclusive to Samsung smartphones. We can expect to see a few images of the smartwatch as the launch date nears. Since it’s a Galaxy device, it will certainly have a lot of TouchWiz customizations on board. The smartwatch could be priced close to the $300 range which is a tad more than conventional smartwatches, but not a lot considering it’s a Samsung device. If we’re lucky enough, Samsung might decide to bundle it with the Galaxy Note 3.
