Verizon Wireless has announced the arrival of the new Kyocera Hydro Elite smartphone as a decent midrange offering. The smartphone features IPX5 and IPX7 certification for protection against submersion water and rain. The Hydro Elite will also carry support for Verizon’s blazing fast 4G LTE networks. According to Phone Scoop, this is the first Kyocera smartphone to hit Verizon since 2007. Kyocera also sells the Hydro series of smartphones on U.S. Cellular, Sprint and Boost Mobile.

The Kyocera Hydro Elite packs a decent sized 4.3 inch 720p display, a 1.5 GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, 16GB of internal storage, 1.5GB of RAM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The smartphone is also capable of charging wirelessly through Qi compatible chargers.

Verizon will charge $149.99 for the smartphone with a two year contract, and will offer a $50 mail in rebate after the purchase. You will find the Kyocera Hydro Elite on Verizon stores beginning from the 29th of August. For $150, the Kyocera Hydro Elite is good deal since it’s a feature rich smartphone. We can expect the prices to go down substantially as third party retailers begin selling the smartphone.
