AT&T will be launching the ZTE Z998 or codename Mustang sometime in the near future. It is scheduled for a US launch, with the ZTE USA website posting the phone before AT&T releases the smartphone.
We believe AT&T will be the sole seller of this smartphone, with Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile not really into offering low-cost smartphones when AT&T has the bulk of low-paying customers.
The ZTE Mustang will be another phone from the Chinese company with low to mid end specs and a cheap as chips price. Coming with a 4.5-inch 960×540 display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.
With a 5MP rear camera, no front camera, 2070mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi and LTE, it is thrown in the stockpile of really average smartphones with a average experience for the average consumer.
Android 4.1.2 will come on the ZTE Mustang with the odd skin we have seen some ZTE phones get and others miss. We do not really like it, but we don’t like most of what is not stock on Android.
One little thing to point out, this is being pushed as a mid-range device, the same thing people are calling the Moto X. Perhaps we should rethink the “mid-range” idea.
