T-Mobile HTC One getting firmware update

The T-Mobile HTC One in the U.S is now receiving a minor under the hood update bringing minor improvements to the processor and network reception as well as 4G LTE. The update doesn’t change the Android OS version, so you will still be stuck on Android 4.1.2. The software version which is currently 1.27.531.8 will be changed to 1.27.531.11 post the update. This is an OTA update, which means you’ll receive an update notification when it’s ready. Users can also get update instructions by heading over to the HTC website. The update will be 247MB in size. T-Mobile claims that the rollout will finish by August 9.

We recently saw the Sprint HTC One getting a similar update bringing features like HD voice and new ringtones. While this is mostly a bug fixing update, it’s always good to be reminded that the carrier is taking care of plaguing issues with the smartphone. There’s still no word on when the much awaited Android 4.2.2 update will go live for these variants, so don’t hold your breath.
