Samsung has just announced the arrival of the next gen Exynos 5 Octa chipset. In what appears to be a teaser of sorts, the company will apparently launch the new chipset next week. The information was given away via the Samsung Exynos Twitter page.
It is a little surprising to see a newer variant of the chip launching merely six months after the announcement of the original Exynos 5 Octa. But we’re guessing this will be used for certain variants of upcoming smartphones or in certain markets. The international Galaxy S4 features the first Exynos 5 Octa chipset, so we’re guessing the Galaxy Note III could pack this new eight core chip.
Samsung will also kick off a contest on Twitter to generate excitement among the users with the hash tag #ExynosEvolved. Fans stand to win devices powered by the new chipset as giveaways.
Won’t the arrival of the new Exynos 5 Octa make the existing variant rather obsolete? These are the questions currently running through our minds, but Samsung will certainly have an answer to that come next week.
