Reports are indicating that the Galaxy S III and the Note II smartphones in the U.S might not see Android 4.2.2. Instead, it is claimed that these might be the first set of Samsung smartphones to get Android 4.3 along with the Galaxy S4, when the new update is announced by Google.
Although there is a possibility of these devices getting the Android 4.2.1 update, it might not necessarily receive the 4.2.2 update which is currently the latest version of Android. The report cannot be fully trusted at this moment as there’s very little proof or evidence, so take it with a grain of salt.
We’re not sure what to make of this rumor as Jelly Bean 4.2 has already leaked for international variants of the Galaxy S III and Note II. Considering the amount of work that goes into adding custom skins and apps on top of stock Android, it might not be a bad idea for Samsung to skip the 4.2.2 update altogether. Samsung can thereby shift its focus on working around Android 4.3 so that a roll out can take place at the earliest. But since Android 4.3 isn’t out yet, this idea could take several months to materialize.
