Sales of the second gen Nexus 7 could go up to 8 million according to industry sources

The ASUS made Nexus 7 tablet has been a huge success for Google and rumors have indicated that a successor to the tablet is in the works. Sources in the industry are now claiming that this yet to be launched tablet could fetch over 8 million in sales for ASUS and Google. It seems like a fair estimate considering all the hype and buzz surrounding the tablet. Retailers even slashed the prices of the Nexus 7 which seemed more like a clearance sale really.  These industry sources have also claimed that the tablet will be announced by the end of this month, which goes well with what we have heard so far.

The second gen Nexus 7 is believed to sport a high resolution 7 inch display, possibly 1920×1200, a Snapdragon 600 chipset, a 5MP camera and a 1.2MP front facing camera. These sources claim that the variants will be priced between $199 and $249 much like the original Nexus 7.

The entire Android fan base is eagerly awaiting the release of the second gen Nexus 7 as there has hardly been anything close to it since its launch, with the exception of the Amazon Kindle Fire of course.
