Nexus 7 refresh specifications reportedly leaked in Asus Live Chat Support

The Nexus 7 refresh specifications were reportedly divulged in a chat between an Asus representative  and a customer on Asus Live Chat Support. Several screenshots of the chat were leaked by a lawyer on Google+.

According to the screenshots, the supposed customer, whose name is not revealed in the conversation, was interested in purchasing the Asus K009. The customer wanted to know if the representative could possibly give some details regarding its release. The Asus representative replied, saying that it will be released before the second quarter of the year ends, then goes on to say that it may before July ends. It is worth noting that the second quarter of the year ends begins in April and ends in June, and not July.

Furthermore, the customer asked about the device’s specifications. The Asus representative said that the list of specifications has not been confirmed, but may be worth checking out nonetheless. Such representative said that the Asus K009 will 7-inch LED screen with a resolution of 1980 x 1200 pixels. Inside, it will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 Quad Core CPU or Snapdragon APQ8064 CPU, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage capacity. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will be its operating system. The device will likewise support Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, LTE, WCDMA, and GSM. Dual cameras will be onboard: on its front will be a 1.2 MP camera whereas on its rear will be a 5 MP camera.

This is purportedly a list that is available only for Asus employees at the moment, but due to the enthusiasm of the customer, the Asus representative decided to release it.

Given that it is a leak, there is no way of knowing whether it is authentic or not. It is rather unusual, however, for an employee to release the specifications of unreleased devices, especially if they have not been confirmed. This rumor, therefore, would best be taken with a grain of salt.
