Google will be holding an Android event on July 24th where we expect it will make several announcements including the launch of the Motorola X smartphone, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and an improved Nexus 7 tablet. Today, we get to know that the Nexus 7 refresh may actually find its way into the market very soon thanks to a price leak that surfaced today.
We cannot say exactly when Nexus 7 will be available, but an inventory screen leak shows that the 16GB version of the tablet will be going for $229, $20 more than its predecessor, and the 32 GB version will be retailing for $269. These prices, though higher than the prices of the current Nexus 7 tablets, aren’t high at all, considering that the new tablet is completely revamped with improved features including a 5 megapixels rear camera, a Snapdragon 600 processor and possible a full HD 1080p screen.
Both the 16 GB and the 32 GB models of Nexus 7 are showed to have a quad-core processor and may not have been shipped yet. What we cannot tell is whether the new tablet will come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box or will it have the current Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or whether there will be Wi-Fi and 3G versions like the current Nexus 7 tablets.
What we already know though is that industry experts have high expectations that the sales of the new Nexus 7 is expected to hit 8 million and a number of online retailers have already slashed the prices of the current Nexus 7 models, probably in anticipation of the next generation Nexus 7, possibly dubbed Nexus 2 7. We will wait and see, but for now we keep an eye out for any new rumors or news.
