LG has uploaded a new teaser video titled “LG G2 is learning from you” to build more anticipation for its upcoming flagship handset. The video shows various interesting facts about humans, such as the number of cells, the number of months that a baby crawls, the number of thoughts one has every day and the number of friends one makes in a lifetime. It contends that all these facts make one perfect, recalling the tagline that LG has been using since it started promoting the new handset in videos such as these. The video ends by saying that the LG G2 learns from such perfect users, without actually revealing how. Rather, the video invites consumers to see how it achieves this on the G2’s launch event on August 7 in New York, a date which the company had already announced previously.
The video does not reveal anything about the smartphone in terms of its features or specifications. However, it does help the G2 create its own identity in the increasingly competitive high-end smartphone niche. When it finally launches, the LG G2 has to contend with the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, Apple iPhone 5, Sony Xperia Z, Blackberry Z10, Nokia Lumia 925, as well as upcoming devices like the much-hyped Moto X. In other words, the G2 needs to exert maximum effort to set itself apart from these other handsets which boast of premium specifications and fancy features.
The latest rumors suggest that LG’s 2013 flagship handset will feature a 5.2-inch full HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, and 3GB of RAM. In addition to the teaser video, LG is also holding a contest to promote the handset. The South Korea-based phone maker hopes to sell 10 million units of such smartphone.
