Samsung’s new upgraded Exynos 5 Octa chip is scheduled to break cover this week. But just prior to the launch, some minor details have emerged about the chipset. This upgraded chipset will be known as the Exynos 5420, says DDaily. The current iteration of the Exynos 5 Octa is known as the Exynos 5410, which implies that this will only be a minor upgrade. The new chipset will apparently feature a better designed circuit aiding quicker switch times between the A15 and A7 CPU cores.
The report further claims that the new eight core chipset will pack a Mali GPU instead of PowerVR. There are basically two options between Mali GPUs – the Mali-T604 (four cores) and the Mali-T628. Considering that the T-604 has already been used on the Nexus 10 tablet by Samsung, we can guess that the T-628 will make the cut.
It is also being said that the Galaxy Note III will feature this new chipset, which fits in well with the timing of the launch of this new chipset. We will know more during the event this week, which has promised something for the fans too.
