Halo: Spartan Assault Announced for Windows Phone

Halo for mobile- what a pleasant idea! Well, 343 industries have gone and made that idea a reality with their new top down shooter, Halo: Spartan Assault.

If you’ve seen the mobile title Gun Bros before, you’ll know instantly what kind of game Spartan Assault is meant to be. And Just like in Gun Bros, the new Halo mobile game will allow you to control a character with a dual stick layout as you attack incoming enemies from a top down view.

The game also tugs on the story of the Halo saga a little bit by filling players in with a few events that happened between Halo 3 and Halo 4. Unlike other Halo games though, it won’t have any multiplayer game modes, and although you’ll have access to leaderboards, Spartan Assault is strictly a singleplayer experience.

The graphics for the title look superb and it has a planned release for Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices this July and will be available for purchase for $6.99. So far 343 Industries hasn’t said anything about Android and iOS releases, but as the Halo series has been exclusive to Microsoft platforms for so long, it wouldn’t surprise me if the game stayed on Microsoft platforms.

Would you ever switch to a specific mobile platforms for exclusives such as Halo: Spartan Assault?
