Asus today announced a new 10 inch tablet that will be powered by Intel’s Atom processor. The new tablet was announced during the 2013 Computex Taipei Summit Forum taking place in Taipei, Taiwan starting today 4th to Thursday 8th. The new Asus MeMo Pad FHD 10 tablet was unveiled alongside other products by the company including another MeMo Pad HD 7 tablet.
The MeMo FHD 10 is a 10 inch tablet powered by a 1.6 GHz dual core Intel Atom Z2560 processor famed for Intel’s revolutionary Hyper-Threading technology which promises to deliver better graphics while boosting energy efficiency. The tablet features a High Definition 10 inch IPS screen with a 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution which is perfect for viewing full quality movies and playing games and 2 GB of RAM to complement such a large high resolution screen. Asus put a lot of focus on the display of the tablet saying that it can provide extended viewing angles of up to 178°. Besides this, the tablet will also come with Asus’ SonicMaster Audio technology.
The Asus MeMo Pad FHD 10 will have a 5 megapixels rear camera that has the capability to record Full HD 1080p video and a front camera with a 1.2 megapixes resolution primarily equipped for video calls. When it comes to storage, the tablet will be available in 16 and 32 GB internal memory variants but both will have an expandable memory via microSD. The Capacity of the battery was not mentioned but it promises up to 10 hours performance playing 720p video.
Build and other details
The Asus MeMo Pad FHD 10 will come in three colors – Silk White, Vivid Pink and Royal Blue. It measures 264.6 x 182.4 x 9.5mm and weighs 580g with a protective TransCover that it comes with. This cover also transforms into a stand for the tablet when the need arises. The tablet offers the standard connectivity options including Wi-Fi N and Bluetooth and has all the standard features of Android tablets such as GPS and NFC.
Asus revealed that the tablet will come with Android 4.2 out-of-the box but failed to mention how much the tablet will cost and when it will be coming to the market.
For now, we appreciate that there is a competitor for the just announced 10.1 Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 which also runs Android operating system and is powered by an Intel processor (you can read the story about it here).
