Yahoo acquires startup PlayerScale

Yahoo’s acquisition spree continues, in the shadow of the biggest deal this year, a $1 billion acquisition for Tumblr, the company has just bought gaming infrastructure startup PlayerScale.

The amount has not been disclosed and this seems to be another small stakes acquisition, although it seems unlike others where Yahoo went for the talent or technology, PlayerScale will continue business as usual.

PlayerScale has over 150 million active users and Yahoo intends to keep the gaming startup going, we suspect they will take little bites of the infrastructure to implement in their own gaming systems.

We cannot see Marissa Mayers end goal with all these different acquisitions, perhaps Yahoo sees adding different businesses and technologies as a way of stepping into a new era for the company.
