Samsung OLED technology will be added to consumer version of Google Glass

Google will be using Samsung’s flexible OLED technology on the consumer version of Google Glass, according to latest reports. CEO Larry Page has been to Samsung supply lines where OLED displays are being developed and is happy with the product.

This is an unsurprising move by Google, who would want a slimmer overall design for Google Glass when it is released to the world. Samsung can also offer a powerful manufacturing demand when needed.

Google is very impressed by Samsung’s OLED technology and was prepared to invest in the OLED business Samsung is developing. We are still awaiting the first smartphone from Samsung with this OLED technology.

Google Glass has no consumer release date, Eric Schmidt, Chairman of Google, said the release was about a year away, but Sergey Brin, the co-founder and leader of X Labs, has said it could be out before the end of 2013.
