Assassins Creed may finally become a professional movie, with New Regency Films and Ubisoft preparing a collaboration set for cinema around May 2015.
New Regency Films are one of the biggest producers, creating movies such as In Time, Fight Club, Big Momma and Alvin an the Chipmunks, we can expect Assassins Creed: The Movie to be a big move for Ubisoft.
Even though this has not been officially announced, the plot was detailed a year ago: “a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts,”
Michael Fassbender is said to be play the lead role, although we have no idea who will be directing, writing the script or producing the movie. Assassins Creed does have a loyal audience and if the lore behind the game is quite rich, which would make sense for a movie.
This is not the first time we have heard of a video game turning into a movie, Bioshock was meant to have a movie but it was stopped mid-development because problems with maturity ratings.
