T-Mobile has officially announced that they will be launching the Nokia Lumia 521 this coming May. The device will be exclusive for the network and is a variant of the Nokia Lumia 520. Those interested in getting this budget friendly smartphone can do so at T-Mobile stores and website, Walmart, and Microsoft stores nationwide.
The pricing detail hasn’t been revealed by the network yet however Nokia has announced that they have priced the Lumia 520 at €139 or $ 185 without a contract. T-Mobile may come up with a price that’s lower than this but we’ll have to wait and see for the official announcement.
One minor detail that may disappoint you is that the device only supports T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network. This may be fast in its own right but it cannot compete with 4G LTE speeds.

The Nokia Lumia 521 is actually a variant of the Nokia Lumia 520 and as such will more or less come with similar specifications. Just like all Windows 8 devices it will come with a suite of applications that consumers will find useful. It comes with navigation apps such as HERE Drive, HERE Maps, and HERE Transit. For those who love taking photos there’s the Cinemagraph and panoramic lens.
This model is a great addition to the growing mid-range models of the company. Nokia CEO Steven Elop recently announced that the company is prioritizing the lower end of the market and pushing for reduced prices for their Windows Phone models.
If the company can introduce several low cost Windows Phone models then they can better compete with the slew of budget Android devices out in the market today.
