New HTC One shipments likely to be affected by microphone supplies

HTCHTC One, a remarkable piece of technology is once again under the attack, and this time by Nokia after it was made available for purchase online. HTC One is Taiwanese’ company flagship device for this year which directly rivals the popular Samsung Galaxy SIV.According to the sources, the shipments of HTC One might be affected after the District Court of Amsterdam has stopped STMicroelectronics from continuing shipping its dual membrane microphones to HTC.Nokia was successful in getting the preliminary injunction against the HTC One in Netherlands after it was found that high-amplitude microphones present in HTC One are same as used in the Nokia Lumia 720.

The sources have also revealed that STMicroelectronics has signed a contract with Nokia which states that ST will ship the dual membrane microphones to Nokia exclusively for a year through March 1, 2014. Not to forget that technology used for the production of these microphones actually originated from Nokia.

Earlier HTC One faced delayed shipments due to the shortage of Ultrapixel Camera components. HTC introduced 4 MP “Ultrapixel” camera in their new flagship device which according to the company captures 300% more light which results in better performance in low light conditions.

It is to be noted that the injunction is currently only applicable in Netherlands which means the sales to the rest of the world will be unaffected. HTC is very disappointed on this decision and issued an official statement: “HTC is disappointed in the decision. We are considering whether it will have any impact on our business and we will explore alternative solutions immediately.”

Hopefully HTC will come up with a quick solution or else they will continue to observe loss in their net income. HTC One is a surely a beast which has set high standards for the upcoming droids. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2 GB of RAM. It also features a 4.7-inches 1080p display with 469ppi, 4 MP Ultrapixel camera and comes in 32 and 64GB versions.
