A few days back we had reported that LG had managed to sell over half a million handsets in their home country just within 40 days of its launch. This was one hell of a feat for a company which has a humble market share in the smart phone industry as compared to its competitors like Samsung, Apple etc.
LG’s Optimus lineup has not managed to shake the market share of its competitors, however things are looking somewhat better for the company with the launch of its latest flagship device, Optimus G Pro. The device is the successor of the famous Optimus G smartphone and is well equipped with features to compete with smartphones like Galaxy S4 and HTC One in the market.
After its release in Japan, we had expected a release in US in the coming months. And we were right indeed, the device is said to be coming on at&t’s network this May. Although the company is yet to make the official announcement, we expect them to announce the device anytime soon.
The device was a scaled down version in Japan, made to suit the Japanese customers but we are pretty sure that the US version would be the 5.5 inch Full HD IPS display version. Other features of the device include a 1.7 GHz Quad core processor, 2 GB Ram, 13 MP camera etc. The device was launched in the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona in February. From then we were eagerly waiting for this device to hit the US shores and finally we can get hands on with the device within a month or so.
LG has hinted that it has big plans this year especially when it is looking to launch its own retail stores in emerging markets. LG believes that a spurt in the sales of its smart phone would result into the spurt of its other products too so these retail stores are essential to give its customers a pure and quality LG experience.
Finally the company is making some progress in the smartphone market but it still has a long way to go until it becomes a threat to its competitors like Samsung.
