HP Slate 7 Now Available For $170

If you’re still looking for a 7 inch Android tablet that costs less than the Nexus 7 then you might want to check out the HP Slate 7 which has just recently been released in the market. This device costs $170 which is $30 cheaper than Google’s tablet and even sports Beats audio technology. You will be able to get this model at the HP online store.

HP Slate 7 Technical Specifications

  • Operating system: Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
  • Display: 7 inch 1024×600 HFFS wide view angle LCD
  • Processor: ARM A9 Dual Core 1.6Ghz
  • Memory: 1GB RAM, 8GB eMMC
  • Camera: VGA Front, 3 MP Rear
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi(802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1 EDR
  • Audio: Beats Audio with stereo speakers 3.5mm headphone-out/microphone-in combo
  • Ports: Micro SD expandable (up to 32GB), Micro USB
  • Battery: 5 hours video playback, one cell 13.4WHr 2 Ah lithium-ion battery

Some the best reasons to get the HP Slate 7 are its use of a metal case instead of plastic , the Beats audio technology, and the use of a front and rear camera. The operating system used is also already Jelly Bean and it looks to be lightly skinned and is comparable to the stock Android.

The only downside to this is that the screen resolution is only 1024×600. This makes it far less than what the Nexus 7 has to offer. If you don’t mind this though then this device is perfect for you.

If you’ve got an extra $30 to spare then you’re probably better off getting the Nexus 7 since it’s got a much more powerful processor, higher resolution screen, bigger battery and better software support.
