There are those couple of duplicate contacts that you want to merge into one but you just can’t figure out why it’s not happening? We help you turn the right settings on to achieve contact merging. We cover the basic contact merging scenario and one where your Facebook contact has severed all communication with your regular phonebook contact. Follow these simple steps to eliminate duplicate contacts on your iOS 6 device!
Step 1: Go to Settings on your Apple Device and scroll till you find Facebook. On the settings screen for Facebook, in the Allow These Apps to Use your Account screen, tap on the screen to reveal the slider that will scroll through your Facebook contacts.
Step2: Open your Contacts app and look for one of the duplicates you want to link together. Edit the duplicate entry by tapping the contact.
Step 3: Once you open up the Edit page, scroll down to the bottom to see Linked Contacts. You will need to tap the Link Contact button to open up the list of contacts page to pick the duplicate you want to merge.
Step 4: Once you see the second entry for the same contact, tap the Link button in the top right hand corner to link both contacts.
Step 5: You will now see a single entry for the newly linked contact in the Contacts page. Open it up. You will then see two sets of data listed for the same contact – mobile number and landline number or landline and an email address or any other combination of contact data. Click on Done on the top right-hand corner to commit the change.
Step 6: Go back to your Contacts page and verify that only one entry exists for the previously duplicate entries. Open up the contact to make sure all the information from both duplicate entries is present.
Step 7: If you do not want to have any Facebook entries on your Contacts page, go to Settings > Facebook Settings and swipe the slider to option ‘Off’ for Contacts in the Allow These Apps to Use Your Account segment.
