AT&T Lets You Control Your Home Using A Smartphone

AT&T is now launching a new service that allows people to secure their homes when they are away. The service which is called AT&T Digital Life is now ready to be ordered by customers in 15 markets namely Atlanta, Austin, Texas, Boulder, Colo., Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Riverside, Calif., San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and select areas of the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.

AT&T Digital Life allows you to monitor your house while you are away. You can also adjust the temperature, let the housekeeper in and check to see if you closed the garage door. This is done through the 24/7 monitoring done by the company’s US based monitoring centers. Once an emergency occurs the proper authorities will immediately be alerted such as the police or firemen. You will also be able to choose what alerts you want to receive.

According to Kevin Petersen, senior vice president, AT&T Digital Life, “We know how important security is to our customers, and this was our top priority when we set out to build Digital Life. People rely on their mobile devices more than ever, so Digital Life offers an easy and convenient way to secure their homes, protect their families and simplify their lives from virtually anywhere.”

There are two packages being offered by AT&T under the Digital Life service. There’s the Simple security and there’s the Smart Security.

Simple Security is the basic option that’s going to cost subscribers $30 a month with an installation fee of $150. The package includes 24/7 home monitoring, 24-hour battery backup, a wireless keypad, keychain remote, recessed sensors and an indoor siren.

Smart Security provides subscribers with more options and costs $40 a month with an installation fee of $250. The package includes everything that the Simple Security has plus any one of the following features which you can choose; motion sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, glass break sensor, smoke sensor or takeover kit.

Those who choose the Smart Security package will be able to customize this further by adding additional features such as Camera Package, Energy Package, Door Package, Water Detection Package, and Water Control Package. Each of these packages comes with an additional monthly and installation charge.

You will be able to access the security system through your computer or your mobile device. The Digital Life application which is used to access the system is available on most browsers and there’s also an app available for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone devices.
