Among the exciting features found on the Galaxy S IV is a new app called WatchOn. On Youtube, GamerHub recently published a video with a Samsung engineer showcasing the features of the app.
WatchOn allows users to watch television in a more interactive and personalized manner. For one, it can turn the smartphone into a remote control that can adjust the volume and change the channel through the help of an IR blaster. It also lets users view online videos. WatchOn likewise has the ability to turn the Galaxy S IV into a portable television so one will not miss any moment from a television show when he or she moves away from the television. It can be used to search for content from sources such as Netflix or Samsung Media Hub and play such content on the television via Miracast or DLNA. As expected, the app is best used with a Samsung Smart TV, but it also works with televisions made by other companies.
WatchON is similar to the Peel Smart Remote app that was made available for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 plus, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. The Peel Smart Remote app also enabled users to search for entertainment content, view a TV schedule, and share what one is watching through social media accounts.
Meanwhile, the other features that Samsung introduced during the unveiling of its Android flagship this year are Air View and Air Gesture, which make it possible for users to show previews of content by simply hovering their hand over content, or scroll and click by waving. Samsung furthermore improved ChatON through its addition of group calling, video calling, and VoIP.
To recap, the Samsung Galaxy S IV packs a 5-inch FHD OLED display, a 13-megapixel camera, a 2-megapixel camera, 16/32/64GB of NAND flash memory, and 2GB of RAM. It tips the scale at 130 grams and measures 7.9mm in thickness.
