Sprint’s Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Gets Jelly Bean Update

Do you have the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 from Sprint? You’re in for a treat as the carrier has just rolled out the Jelly Bean update for this model. The update will be arriving over the air (OTA) and should be available over the course of a few weeks. Once the notification arrives in your device it will only take a few minutes for the update to install. If you can’t wait for the notification then you can try to check on it manually by hitting Settings>About> and then checking for updates.

This update was made available Wi-Fi only version of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 U.S. versions a couple of months ago and is only now arriving for Sprint.

Some of the changes brought about by the update are as follows

  • Google Now
  • Smooth transitions
  • Expandable, actionable notifications allow you to take action directly from the notifications panel.
  • Improved Widgets

One of the first things you will notice after the update is the improved graphic capability and expanded feature set of your device. Everything operates smoother now from transitioning between different home screens to switching between different apps.

The highlight of this update is the access to Google Now which gives you all sorts of relevant information in just a single swipe.

One other feature that comes with this update is the ability to take actions directly from the notifications panel. Widgets are also much easier to work with this time since placing new ones on the screen automatically moves the others to make room for the newly placed widget.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 initially came with Android Ice Cream Sandwich and is priced more affordably than its predecessor. The hardware components of this device aren’t that stellar and its battery life is what people often complain about. Despite these shortcomings this tablet is quite popular among users who want to have a portable device for checking emails and opening media files.
