Hacker leaks emails from venture capitalists

John Doerr

Hacking has become a very big problem lately, for software and consumer electronic companies, government agencies, news corporations, defense organizations, car manufacturers, and even candy companies. But according to a new report, even venture capitalists are at the risk of being hacked.  And once they are hacked, all their personal and business matters will be made public. This is what has happened to venture capitalist, John Doerr. John Doerr has been one of the early investors for many successful companies, including Amazon and Google.

The Smoking Gun website reports that a hacker who goes by the name Guccifer has hacked into John Doerr’s AOL email account and has sent several emails from John Doerr’s account to the Smoking Gun website. And along with this, the hacker has also sent the website screenshots of John Doerr’s contacts list, which includes Steve Jobs’ biographer Walter Isaacson, the Smoking Gun said.

John Doerr did not respond to this immediately to the media when questioned, as Reuters writes, “A spokesman for Doerr, the face of the high-profile venture-capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.” Reuters also mentions:

Guccifer rose to prominence earlier this year after leaking the emails of several Bush family members, including former President George W. Bush.

The hacker has also accessed emails of former secretary of state Colin Powell and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

Even though we can sure that our email accounts will not be hacked and made public (not that anyone would care), it is always better to safeguard your email accounts, computers, social networks, and any other digital gate which could lead to your personal data. With ready made tools for amateur hackers, hacking is becoming a very vast and dangerous cyber crime.
