Google Nexus 4 Tips & Tricks: Four Ways You Can Make The Most Out Of Nexus 4

Tether And Share Data With Other Devices

If you’ve subscribed to T-Mobile’s unlimited 4G data plan with no contract, your Nexus 4 can be very useful if you tether your data with other devices. You can create a portable Wi-Fi hotspot at home or anywhere you want. I don’t want to over-emphasize the importance of tethering but I will walk you through setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Step 1: Pull the Notification Bar down.

Step 2: Touch the icon on the top right corner.

Step 3: Tap Settings.

Step 4: Choose More…

Step 5: Touch Tethering & portable hotspot.

Step 6: Select Set-up Wi-Fi hotspot and choose WPA2 PSK.

Step 7: Key in your password with, at least, 8 characters and touch Save.

Step 8: Now check the box located to the right of Portable Wi-Fi hotspot option.

You can now share your connection to up to 8 devices.

As of this writing, only T-Mobile offers unlimited 4G data service for $70 without a contract, although there is also a contract-free data plan offering for $30.

Sprint, on the other hand, also offers a $70 per month prepaid plan for smartphones with unlimited voice, texts and data.

Depending on your needs, you may choose the plan that will suit you.

  1. Chrome is the “stock” browser on the Nexus 4. Also, don’t know what point you were trying to make about the Obi 202 in relation to the Nexus 4 since you left out the info on Obi’s Obion app which allows your android device to sync with your obi account and make free wifi calls using GV or whatever voip provider you have set up on your Obi 202, or Obi 100.
