The XElectron M998 watch with a SIM card slot and more

XElectron M998 watch with SIM card slot

There have been a lot of rumors about the Apple iWatch and the Samsung Galaxy Watch, smart watches are getting a lot of attention due to these rumors, and rightly so. These can be very awesome gadgets to have. You will not have to take out your smart phone each and every time you get a notification. And if you have a Bluetooth ear piece, you will not have to touch your smart phone for calls as well. And as we are discussing these possibilities, there one company in the Eastern part of the world which is already selling a similar product.

XElectron, a company in India, is selling its M998 watch for just $73. The XElectron M998 is a watch with a SIM card and a lot more features. So basically, you will just have to insert a GSM SIM card into this and you have a phone tied to your wrist. The watch has a touch screen display of 1.5 inches and a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. It supports one GSM SIM card working on the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz band. The watch has 45 KB of internal storage (yes, KB), and has a microSD card slot for any kind of data you need to store on it. The maximum supported is a 4 GB card.

The XElectron M998 has a 1.3 mega pixel camera, a built in speaker for hands free talking, and a flight mode as well. Why do you need flight mode? If you are travelling in the air, of course. And with this, you can turn off other radios as well, such as Bluetooth and GPRS radios which are also present. The watch has SMS and MMS support, but no Email client. The watch also has a music player built into it, with an FM radio as well.

The icons on the display of the watch look like they are taken directly from Apple’s iOS. I wonder if Apple will sue this company also for using their icons. And yes, the watch also has a micro USB port. And when you buy this watch, you get an earphone, two batteries, a charger and a USB cable. Why two batteries? Each battery is of 450 mAh, and it sounds very less for a device which is capable of doing cellular communication.

Anyway, I found this device on an online shopping website called via a Google Ad. I have no idea if this is a real available in the market. But since there are 20 reviews already and most of them appear to be marketing gimmicks, I think probably you can get this if you want to. You can find the product and buy it over here. But let me tell you, I am not responsible for anything.
