Sony Xperia Tablet Z, a threat to the top tablet makers

Sony is playing hard to top tab as well as Smartphone markets. Each new release challenges current rulers Apple and Samsung to make bigger, better, faster devices to rival those of Sony. The company known for cutting edge design and technology has unveiled its new Xperia Tablet Z in the Mobile World Congress 2013. The tablet holds the current world record for the slimmest tab to be created measuring a mere 6.9 mm thickness, sleeker than Apple’s 7.2 mm iPad Mini.

The tablet runs Android’s latest – 4.1 JellyBean upgradable to version 4.2. Xperia Z from the highly successful Xperia range of smartphones post the Ericsson buyout is an enhanced version of the Xperia Tablet S. The tablet has a 10.1 inch HD display with a resolution of 1920X1200 display, features a Bravia engine 2 for enhanced graphics and image quality, comes with 2 GB RAM and S-Force Front surround 3D capability.  The tablet also sports an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. There are 16GB, 32GB and 64 GB variants of the model. All models feature Wi-Fi, Near Field Communication(NFC), Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity. Sony will also offer Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi/LTE variants of the Xperia Z.

Will the latest offering by Sony unveiled at the MWC threaten the Cupertino and Korean based tablet makers to give the iPad Mini and Samsung tab a run for its money? Or will these two smartphone and tablet makers retain their position as the supreme kings of technology? With Sony’s new lineup, there is going to be an overthrow of sorts, to win the top spot in tablet markets!
