Sony offering premium MDR-1R cans along with Xperia Z in UK

If you’re looking to buy a high end smartphone right now, Sony’s Xperia Z flagship offering is probably the best device you can lay your hands on right now. Sony unveiled the device few days back and it is up for preorders. In the UK, vendors should start delivering the devices by end of this month. It’s a really good device, and in order to attract more customers or to celebrate the launch of the Xperia Z flagship in the UK, Sony now has an up and running promotion at vendors including Phones 4U, Carphone Warehouse, Three, O2 and Vodafone. According to the promotion, the first 1000 customers who pre-order Xperia Z from above mentioned vendors/carriers are eligible to receive Sony’s MDR-1R Prestige cans. It’s an awesome deal if you ask me because the headphone costs about two hundred British pounds in value on Amazon or 300 according to Sony.

The handset is pretty cheap if you buy on contract, in fact you can have it for free along with a two-year contract, and monthly charges vary. Monthly charges range from 33 pounds at Carphone Warehouse to 47 pounds at O2.

This deal will surely attract people who have been on the fence about buying the Xperia Z and waiting to hear about new releases that will be happening at the Mobile World Congress that will be taking place in Barcelona this month.

As far as the device itself goes, it features a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display panel with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, a 13.1MP Exmor RS camera sensor on the back with a 2.2MP front facing snapper as well, both capable of 1080p video capture. The chipset on board is the quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro with each cores clocked at 1.5GHz. There’s a 2,330 mAh non removable battery pack inside, which should provide ample up time for the smartphone. The front and back of the smartphone is made with reflective glass as Sony likes to call it, and is pretty premium looking. Despite being made of glass, the smartphone is believed to be pretty rugged and is IP57 certified, which makes it water and dust resistant.

Below is the spec sheet of 2013 Xperia Z:
